Me – Generation Justice

So what can we learn from a name? What does my name, Abby Magnus, tell you about me? Anyone who attends or teaches at my school automatically knows me as Ben Magnus’ little sister. If I were to reveal that my full name is Abigail Elisabeth Magnus, one might assume I am an elderly lady who enjoys knitting…and cats, surprisingly though, this would be a false conclusion. For anyone who has acquired some Latin in their time, they might notice that my last name means big or great. During the Middle Ages it was commonly added to noble or royal family name to show power or strength, so perhaps I am some long lost princess; Anastasia, Abigail, pretty close if I do say so myself. If you are a fan of American Idol, you might recognize my last name to be the same as one of the contestants, Siobhan Magnus. Is she a relation of mine? Well if she wins she’s my closest cousin.

Basically, if all you know about me is my name, you pretty much know nothing; those Aflac commercials tell the truth. The important things to know about me, Abby Magnus, are as follows; I love my friends and would do anything for them, music is my escape in this world, I can’t sing, even though it regularly happens, and I hate centipedes and mean people. I make it my personal mission to be friends, or at least acquaintances, with everyone I meet. So if you ever do meet me, I’ll probably be the girl hugging random people and grinning like crazy. You may know my name, Abby Magnus, but also know that I am so much more than that name could ever convey.
