Keep Angel Home!! [Video] – Generation Justice

Friends, we are writing to you today to ask for your help. In late November, 23 year old Angel Alvarez was stopped for a traffic violation and taken into custody. Because of his legal status, Angel is now in danger of facing deportation to Mexico despite the fact that he has lived in the United States for the past 20 years. At the age of 16, and after his step-father left the home, Angel made the tough decision to leave school so that he could support his seven sisters and mother. Angel has been the main provider for his family, a father figure to his seven sisters, and an outstanding community member. This possible deportation has devastated his family, and they are afraid of being separated permanently from Angel.

Last year, Angel went back to school to receive his high school diploma. He has also recently joined Generation Justice to work on our ongoing Drop Out Project. His experiences and his voice on the value of going back to school have been invaluable to our project. He is currently enrolled at ACE Leadership High School, and was looking forward to talking walking with his friends on graduation day and receiving his degree. He has big dreams of graduating and using his training in architecture and construction to help his community. However, he won’t be able to do this unless we support him and take action. Angel’s time is running out. His last court date is March 8th, and his family is still in need of almost $2,000 to help pay for Angel’s legal fees and possibly save him from being deported. They are asking us to help pitch in with any amount we can to. Please help keep Angel home, where he belongs.
