This month, we experience the power of youth organizing. All over the country, students walked out of class to stand in solidarity with gun violence victims. The March for Our Lives gathered people in more than eight hundred cities across the country. Albuquerque joined the “March for Our Lives” National movement and youth from around the city organized for 3 weeks to bring out 10,000 people. It was one of the largest actions in state history.
This week, we are honored to bring you some of the organizers and speakers from the march. We are joined by Quincy Walker, from the Native American Community Academy; Janelle Astorga Ramos, from New Mexico Leadership Alliance: Riazullah Alkozai, from Highland High School; and, Amaia Biewen, from the E-Academy. We’ll also hear some powerful poetry from youth poet, Sarita Sol Gonzalez, from Tierra Adentro Charter School.
