Everything You Need to Know About Mark Zuckerberg’s Testimony to Congress

HUGE shoutout to Motherboard for this amazing article. If you’re late to the “party”, check out this article. It is full of the highlights and slightly ridiculous moments of ‘The Zuck’s’ testimony. “If you wisely decided not to binge watch the entire spectacle—or watch it in VR—fear not. Motherboard has been watching every second of the dialogue and has collected all the most interesting and important bits you may have missed. If you want to get caught up, this is where you should start.”.

Fed Up With Facebook, Activists Find New Ways to Defend Their Movements.

To be completely honest, I wasn’t super surprised when the information about Cambridge Analytica first came out. I know that things like that are happening all the time, so that only confirmed my suspicions. Was it shocking? It’s shocking anytime the targets of surveillance aren’t activists or people of color. Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Media Justice, Malkia Cyril, wrote an important article about this. “Activists of color weren’t surprised by the Cambridge Analytica revelations. This scandal is only the latest in a string of worrisome disclosures about the use of social media by third parties, from foreign governments and electoral candidates to law enforcement agencies, to spy on the activities of users – especially immigrant, Black and other vulnerable communities.”. Ajit Pai refuses Democrats’ request to revoke Sinclair broadcast licenses

Having to write about Facebook and Pai in the same e.Woke is sending ~chills~ down my spine! But no rest for the wicked, I guess. So, what has Pai been up to? Lying about protecting the First Amendment of course! “Senate Democrats asked Pai yesterday to consider revoking licenses from the right-wing Sinclair Broadcast Group. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai shot the request down, telling Democrats that he will stand up for First Amendment press freedoms and that the FCC doesn’t have the authority to revoke licenses based on the content of newscasts.” but what did Pai say when Trump tried to do the same thing to NBC in October of last year? “”Despite our calls, the chairman has refused to say if he agrees with the president,” Reps. Frank Pallone Jr. (D-N.J.) and Mike Doyle (D-Penn.) said at the time.”. When Pai finally spoke out, he didn’t even reference Trump. Hmm…your puppet side is showing, Pai.
