Positive Youth Development Approach
GJ utilizes best practices of positive youth development as the core approach to training youth in the multi-media productions and in all of GJ’s domains. Our PYD model values youth as assets, establishes positive youth-adult partnerships, provides a safe space for youth to learn and be empowered, and engages outside systems/structures (i.e., families, schools and community) in providing a supportive and successful environment for youth.
Through their work with GJ, youth members gain a deeper and broader understanding of issues in our community, empowerment as they feel confident in their voices and stories, leadership skills as they find their unique leadership attributes and contribute them to the larger group, and professional networks that help them build careers geared toward bettering our state.
