During Generation Justice’s Summer Intensive training, new youth producers learned about the importance of early childhood development for New Mexico through our interactive training entitled “Little Feet Walk Loud.” This training approaches the topic of early childhood development, and more specifically early brain development, as a social justice issue. Participants are challenged to expand their definitions of social justice by connecting early brain development to issues like prison incarceration rates, high school graduation rates, and state budget allocations.
In this video, Generation Justice Youth Producer Arturo Castillo reflects on what he learned about early childhood development through the “Little Feet Walk Loud” training. Arturo discusses the lack of resources and support offered to teenage mothers in the state of New Mexico, and why we should be paying more attention to this.
