Matthew Brown is a queer Afro-Latino writer, activist, spoken word artist, and native New Mexican. Matthew is currently a senior at the University of New Mexico, double majoring in Political Science and Psychology with a minor in Communication and Journalism. His work with Generation Justice began through an interview for the #NMspeaksCrisis campaign, which later evolved into a statewide initiative addressing New Mexico’s behavioral health crisis. Using his background in social justice, politics, writing, and psychology, Matthew hopes to reform New Mexico’s behavioral health system from the inside out. Matthew is also the author of Verbrennen, a collection of poetry published under Swimming with Elephants Publications.
