National Hispanic Cultural Center’s 10th Year Celebration: Paz – Generation Justice

On October 10, 2010 the National Hispanic Cultural Center celebrated its ten-year anniversary in Albuquerque, NM with a community open house. They featured local performers, behind the scenes tours, dance classes, hands-on art, and the unveiling of the fresco inside the Torreon. KUNM Youth Radio Project's Danya Mustafa interviews Paz, Jefe de Kalpulli Ehecatl. He speaks on the traditions of Danza and on what the National Hispanic Cultural Center means to him.

Back 2 School Summit [Video] – Generation Justice

On September 18, 2010 the Coalition for Immigration, Race and Social Justice held the Back 2 School Summit at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. Middle school, high school, and college aged students participated in workshops in the summit, which ranged from blogging to learning about the Dream Act. KUNM Youth Radio Project’s Danya Mustafa and Victor Torres lead the Blog Workshop and participated in the summit.

Speak Your Vote UNM – Generation Justice

KUNM Youth Radio Project put out Speak Your Vote NM, a blog for young people, ages 13-30, to express their opinions to the candidates. This blog gives a chance for young people to have a voice and for their voices to be heard. All the posts will be forwarded to both candidates. KUNM Youth Radio Project's Lucia Martinez and Carson Lafferty interview several UNM students and ask what issues they want the gubernatorial candidates to focus on and a question they would ask the candidates.

National Youth Listening Tour: Interview with Alberto Retana Director of Community Outreach for U.S. Department of Education [Video] – Generation Justice

On September 16, 2010, the U.S. Department of Education held a listening session entitled the National Youth Listening Tour at Central New Mexico Community College in Albuquerque, NM. Members of the community - including middle school, high school, and college age youth - came to share ideas in part to encourage education reform. KUNM Youth Radio Project's Luke Iha interviews Alberto Retana, the Director of Community Outreach for the U.S. Department of Education. Retana discusses his outlook on the education crisis and his hopes for the future of our education system.
